Europol puts a “lock” in the largest illegal store of dark web

DarkMarket, the largest illegal store on the Dark Web, has “locked” by the police forces of many countries after their coordinated efforts. DarkMarket has more than 500,000 users, 2,400 sellers, and 320,000 transactions worth $ 171 million in cryptocurrencies and, according to Europol, is the largest illegal online store.

The DarkMarket was reportedly administered by an Australian national who was arrested at the German-Danish borders after the following coordinated efforts between the services of Austria, Denmark, Moldova, Ukraine, the United Kingdom, the United States, and Germany. Europol states that more than 20 of the store’s servers were confiscated in Moldova and Ukraine.

After shutting down of Silk Road, AlphaBay, and the Wall Street Market, DarkMarket was the fourth hub for drug dealing, money laundering, credit card details, malware, and anonymous SIM cards according to Europol. The department hopes to find more information by analyzing the data that will emerge from the servers in order to identify the other managers, sellers, and buyers that are involved in illegal activities.
