Η Google με το Downtown West project χτίζει τη δική της πόλη!

“The project creates the future of San Jose in which I want to live” – Says the mayor of San Jose, Sam Liscardo.

After more than three years of negotiations, San Jose officials voted late Tuesday to approve Google’s plan called the Downtown West project, which effectively paves the way for new offices and homes in the San Jose area.

The project envisages the exploitation of 800 acres and the creation of offices that will employ 20,000 employees. In addition to creating workplaces, the plan includes the reconstruction of 4,000 homes, 300 hotel rooms, 10 parks and other buildings that will house shops, activities and services.

For the approval of the project, Google provided $ 150 million to the municipality in order to distribute in educational work programs as well as assistance to the homeless with affordable housing.

“What the city of San Jose now has in front of it is a development agreement that reflects the needs of everyday people,” said Maria Noel Fernandez, deputy director of the Silicon Valley Rising Support Working Group. “It is really going to set the development standards in our region and possibly in the whole country.”

Alexa Arena, director of Google’s development plan in San Jose, described the project as a “social infrastructure plan” rather than a typical office building plan. We see in the long run “We are not contractors coming for five years”.
