EUROPEAN CYBER SECURITY CHALLENGE
Today, most countries lack sufficient IT security professionals to protect their IT infrastructure. The European Cyber Security Challenge (ECSC) is aimed at identifying new talent – by having national teams compete in a Cyber Security Challenge!
The European Cyber Security Challenge (ECSC), organized by ENISA, leverages these competitions in that it adds a pan-European layer to them: The top cyber talents from each country meet to network and collaborate and finally compete against each other to determine which country has the best cyber talents. To find out which country’s team is the best, contestants have to solve security related tasks from domains such as web security, mobile security, crypto puzzles, reverse engineering, and forensics and collect points for solving them.
This is the official page of the Hellenic Cyber Security Team. The team that competed in the 2019 ECSC challenge grand finals, assembled after a qualification round on April 17-18, which determined the top 10 cybersecurity talents in Greece. The team competed in the Challenge’s 2019 finals.
The Hellenic team and participation to the Challenge organized by the Department of Digital Systems of the University of Piraeus.
The focus of the Challenge is to identify new talent, so only InfoSec hobbyists and students are eligible to participate. Participants need to reside in the country they represent and their age should be between 14-25.
Both the Qualifying Round and Final Round include a number of security-related challenges. These include web security, mobile security, crypto puzzles, reverse engineering and forensics. Participants who solve them are awarded points and the individuals (or teams) with the highest number of points win. The Hellenic team’s expenses will be covered by the organisers and sponsors.
